My family and I (myself, wife and two daughters) were camping in a pop up camper in Lot 35 on Big Brook Rd in Unicoi State Park. Campground was full to capacity. (90 sites filled) My wife and daughters went to bed around 10:00 pm and I was sitting by the fire until about 12:00am. I went to the camp bath house to take a shower. I came back to pop up camper around 12:30 am and got to bed around 12:45 am. I did notice that there were a few whiffle wills singing in the trees before I got into the bed. Just as I got into the bed it seemed that all of the whiffle wills singing at once, then there was a howl, scream that I have never heard before that lasted about 10 seconds. It woke my wife and daughter from sleep and my wife stated: “That was weird”, “Was that bigfoot”, she asked. I was silent for a moment to process of what I heard. I was recalling sounds of different animals that would make a sound like that. I ruled out bears, wolves, coyotes, elk, deer, mountain lions, bobcats, foxes and came to one conclusion that I have just heard the same sounds on Finding Bigfoot show and comparing other sounds on the internet. The sound came from a distance away from our location approximately 400 yards. It was very loud howl that sounded to come from a very powerful beast (like when you are at the zoo and you can hear the lion roaring in the zoo). It so loud that it sounded like it was outside of the camper, but we heard the howl originate in another location. It was only one howl and we did not hear another responding howl because we (my wife and daughter and myself were processing the howl and talking in the camper). I did go outside of the camper to investigate around my camper and did not see any other campers out in their sites. I almost forgot to mention that after the howl all of the whiffle wills that were singing in the trees all stopped at once.
